HOW TO AVOID CANCER EXPOSURE FROM OLD PLASTIC CONTAINERS

Remember the story about bisphenol A, the carcinogen allegedly found in some old plastic containers and drink bottles and in the lining of cans. It was linked to cancer, but a research by the European food safety authority concluded that exposure to this chemical was within safe limits.
A U>S study is contesting the research and a new one is due soon. Meanwhile, this is how to lower your exposure to bisphenol A in Nigeria.
1. Discard old, cracked containers especially those older than 5 months.
2. Refill only with the original content if you must e.g water in bottled water containers.
3. Always check the expiry date of the product to give you an idea of the shelf life.
4. Destroy used bottles by puncturing them to avoid reuse by others.
