HOW TO AVOID AND HANDLE SWINE FLU IN NIGERIA

All over the news these days ,there is this concern about swine flu,a deadly flu like disease.It was first transmitted from pigs to humans but recently,human transmission has been recorded. More than 180 persons have died especially in Mexico and the US. WHO is studying the disease and the centre for disease control is trying to get a vaccine. Symptoms include usual flu with fever above 40C. Some antivirals like tamiflu and relenza work in some cases.These tips help avoid and handle swine flu infection.1.Stay home and monitor any signs of flu as the virus mimics common flu.2.Contain your cough by covering your mouth while coughing.3.Constantly wash your hands using hand sanitizers where possible.4. Avoid unneccessary contact handshakes and facial greetings.5.Keep antivirals handy e.g oseltqamivir and zanamivir which should be taken within 24 to 48 hours of suspected infection.6.Soak and wash all fruits and vegetables although this is on proven source of infection.7.Avoid unsanitary food (mama put).
