HOW TO AVOID/COMBAT SEXUAL HARRASMENT AT WORK

Sexual harrasment at work, which means the abuse of ones rights due to his or her sex, is sadly a common occurence in Nigerian society especially at work.Bosses try to get sex from their subordinates simply because they are their superiors at work. Victims rarely get heard, let alone justice and many do not know how to combat such situations. Women are normally the larger percentage of victims but men are sometimes harrassed by their female bosses. The following tips are for those who feel they are victims of this at work. 1. Take action instantly. Talk to the person involved letting him know the effects of his actions on your emotions and work input. If the advances are too strong write him a note (while keeping a copy) to show your disapproval.2. Avoid as much as possible, any contact with the culprit. Keep out of his way.3.Note the date, time and any witnesses to similar incidents and keep them stored.4.Report to your H.R dept. updating them regularly. Remember only you can act for it to stop.
