Jealousy,envy,negative attitudes,these words are all causes and results of gossiping.Gossiping reduces the quality of life at work while also demoralizing the work force. Gossiping is not uncommon to the Nigerian worker but one doesnt have to participate in it. Here are some ways to avoid gossiping at work. 1.Personally decide to refrain from gossiping.Be aware of your decision when talking. 2. Be cautious,polite and firm in avoiding gossips. 3.If gossip comes up,change the topic.Mention the latest film or new assignment given to you. 4.Ignore any nasty comments.When they notice you dont respond they will leave you alone.5. Set a good example by speaking positively and constructively. Remember a decent nature will also enhance your opportunities.

HOW TO BE HAPPY AT WORK

Are you happy at work?do you look forward to or dread the next day at the office? The answers to these questions help in showing the quality of life of an individual.
The average Nigerian worker works from 8am to 6pm which means he spends almost half his lifetime at work.In order to have a higher quality of life it is thus necessary to be happy at work.
here are a few simple ways of ensuring happiness at work.
1.Territorialize your work space.Place one or two photos of family or friends etc.Bring your own coffee or tea pot.Also make sure your work space is always cleaned at the end of the day.keep all files properly,remove the trash,and tidy your desk.Coming into a neat office will certainly improve how you see your place of work.
2.Make some friends even if just to discuss the latest DVD or the premier league or anything.Its nice to have someone to chat with at work.
3.Make use of available break time to refresh your mind and body.If possible, stroll out into the open and have a change of scene.When its your vacation,take it.
4.On the job,start with the hardest job first before getting to the lighter ones .that way when you tire towards the end of the day you have lighter jobs to do.
5.Finally,leave the job in the office.Your home is another scene altogether.try not to bring work home.

Sexual harrasment at work, which means the abuse of ones rights due to his or her sex, is sadly a common occurence in Nigerian society especially at work.Bosses try to get sex from their subordinates simply because they are their superiors at work. Victims rarely get heard, let alone justice and many do not know how to combat such situations. Women are normally the larger percentage of victims but men are sometimes harrassed by their female bosses. The following tips are for those who feel they are victims of this at work. 1. Take action instantly. Talk to the person involved letting him know the effects of his actions on your emotions and work input.
